What is BetterClaw?
BetterClaw gives you AI agents that work 24/7 on their own private cloud computers, doing jobs like triaging your inbox, sending your morning briefing, chasing failed payments and qualifying leads. Each agent is isolated from the others and never shares logins or data. Pick a template or describe the job in plain English, and your agent is live in 60 seconds with no code or servers. Connect 1,000+ apps, plus any tool with MCP or an API. Run it on any model you like (API key, ChatGPT or Claude subscription, or a local model) with zero markup, and choose which actions need your approval before they go out.
What are credits, and do I need them if I bring my own key?
Yes. Credits pay for your agent's runtime, not for AI tokens. 1 credit is roughly 1 minute of agent runtime. Some premium features use extra credits: proxies, the X/Twitter connector, and Google or Meta Ads. Most tasks finish in 5 to 10 minutes, so on Tier 3 (12,000 credits) that's around 2,000 task runs a month. Credits reset monthly, and you can top up in the app.
Are there limits on scheduled tasks or workflows?
No. You can create as many as you want. Each run uses credits.
Can I use a local model (Ollama)?
Yes. Download our app from betterclaw.io/downloads and use it to connect your local model to your agents. You don't need to open ports or set up tunnels, and it costs nothing in API fees.t.
Where is data hosted, and is it GDPR-ready?
The platform is hosted in the US, with EU agent hosting available on request. Every tier gets AES-256 encryption at rest and in transit, a public subprocessor list, 90-day retention for logs and backups, and we never train on your data. We’re ISO 27001 certified. Our standard DPA at betterclaw.io/legal/dpa covers every tier. A countersigned custom DPA, EU hosting and the ISO 27001 certificate are included on Tier 5. Request them at hello@betterclaw.io.
Is there an API, MCP or webhooks?
The Agent API (OpenAI-compatible) is live, and you can use it to trigger agents, pass context and get results back. Agents can already connect to external MCP servers. Webhooks, BetterClaw as an MCP server, and multi-agent collaboration are in progress.
